Mother’s Day is a special holiday in France and I do love how the children in grade school are diligently preparing homemade crafted gifts for their maman chérie ! I do have a nice collection myself !
Mother’s Day is celebrated with a nice lunch, at a large table with all the family members. But before, there is much preparation to be done .
Mother’s Day falls on the last Sunday of May. This year it also occurs during the long weekend of Ascension, so it makes for a prolonged weekend to spend more time together.
First of all the menu, the table, the guests, the flowers, dessert and champagne (rosé), of course!
The menu at Mother’s Day is always a special one, composed of fresh, quality, in season ingredients. This year, if you look at my menu for May, I have composed a lovely menu for Mother’s Day, as well as providing the recipe for the classic Strawberry 🍓 cake 🍰, le Fraisier , a great classic , once again, the sustainable French way of eating in season.

The peonies or pivoines are in season and make a beautiful bouquet, as do pastel colored roses. Don’t forget the champagne 🥂 🍾 as an apéritif and to accompany the Fraisier .
A nice gift 🎁 for your maman chérie would be a nice perfume (I do like Hermès, Un Jardin sur le Nile), a nice silk scarf, a necklace or a pair of earrings, a bracelet .
